Nakhon Ratchasima Municipal Sport Stadium

Located in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand, the Nakhon Ratchasima Municipal Stadium is a multi-use sports venue with a history intertwined with the city's sporting endeavours. While specific details about its opening date remain elusive, this stadium has served primarily as a football ground and was the former home of Nakhon Ratchasima F.C. before they moved to the more enormous 80th Birthday Stadium in June 2008.

Constructed in a classic Thai architectural style, the stadium features two side stands, with the main being more prominent. This single-tier structure boasts a concrete cantilever roof that extends approximately thirty meters on either side of the halfway line, offering shelter to spectators. Red bench seats were installed in this stand in preparation for the 2007 SEA Games, during which the stadium hosted several football matches, primarily women's games and some men's group matches. Opposite the main stand is an uncovered, unseated stand of similar length, providing a more basic viewing experience. In common with many stadiums in Thailand, an athletics track encircles the pitch, accommodating various sporting activities.

Beyond its primary use for football, the Nakhon Ratchasima Municipal Stadium has also hosted other events, as evidenced by its use for matches in the Thai FA Cup. Though extensive documentation of significant boxing matches is lacking, Nakhon Ratchasima, also known as Korat, has a rich connection to combat sports.

The city has produced celebrated boxers, most notably Pongsaklek Wonjongkam, a two-time WBC flyweight champion whose achievements have resonated throughout the country. Wonjongkam has undoubtedly inspired many regional athletes. As a focal point for local sporting events and a symbol of Nakhon Ratchasima's dedication to sports.
