Oscar Collazo Successfully Defends His WBO world strawweight Title For The First time

Oscar Collazo, the WBO world strawweight champion, successfully defended his title against Garen Diagan at the Coliseo Roberto Clemente in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The fight was broadcast live worldwide on DAZN and was presented in association with Miguel Cotto Promotions and H2 Entertainment.

Collazo, who hails from Newark, New Jersey, entered the fight as the newly-crowned WBO 105lb champion and was making the first defence of his belt against the Filipino Diagan. The fight was scheduled for 12 rounds.

Collazo imposed his will on Diagan to the point that the Filipino fighter couldn’t make it off his stool for the seventh round. With this victory, Collazo made his first successful defence of his belt that he claimed against former titleholder Melvin Jerusalem in May. The undefeated 26-year-old improved to 8-0 with 6 KOs.

After the fight, Collazo spoke about his performance and his plans. “I felt great out there tonight,” he said. “I stuck to my game plan and was able to get the job done. I’m ready for whoever they put in front of me next.”
