Fight Report

Kelvin “Nite Nite” Davis squared off against Nahir “Woo” Albright in a 10-round junior welterweight bout for the vacant Silver US WBC title in his hometown, Norfolk, Virginia. The co-main event, elevated due to Keyshawn Davis’s weight miss cancelling his WBO lightweight title defence, drew a passionate crowd eager to see Kelvin, a 28-year-old southpaw with a 15-0 record (8 KOs), avenge his brother’s controversial 2023 no-contest against Albright. Albright, a 29-year-old orthodox fighter from Philadelphia with a 16-2 ledger (7 KOs), brought a reputation for durability, never having been stopped, and a July 2023 upset over Karlos Balderas. “I’m here to show he can’t play with the Davis name,” Kelvin told Sporting News pre-fight. Albright’s relentless pressure and timely right hands secured a majority decision victory (95-95, 97-93, 96-94), handing Davis his first loss at 15-1 (8 KOs) while moving to 17-2 (7 KOs). Broadcast on ESPN and ESPN+, the Top Rank event underscored Albright’s grit, though post-fight allegations of a locker room altercation involving Keyshawn and Keon Davis cast a shadow over the night.

Kelvin Davis entered the ring with hometown pride and a chip on his shoulder, his 6’1” frame and 74-inch reach giving him a physical edge over the 5’8” Albright. Promoted by Top Rank since turning pro in December 2020, Davis’s amateur record of 25-13 was modest. Still, his professional run included a November 2024 unanimous decision over Yeis Solano with an eighth-round knockdown and a March 2025 fourth-round KO of Jose Marruffo. Against Albright, Davis started cautiously, relying on his jab to maintain distance, landing 18 of 48 jabs in the first three rounds. However, Albright’s aggression disrupted his rhythm, with a second-round overhand right wobbling Davis, who stumbled into the ropes, though a slip was ruled, not a knockdown. “I thought I had him hurt early,” Albright told Fighthype post-fight. The Scope Arena’s crowd, expecting a Davis showcase, grew restless as Albright’s 25-5 power punch edge through three rounds signalled an upset brewing.

Albright’s performance was a masterclass in pressure fighting, his 99 professional rounds, 30 more than Davis, showing his composure. His 2023 majority decision loss to Keyshawn Davis, later ruled a no-contest due to a marijuana violation, proved he could compete at the highest level. Against Kelvin, Albright’s overhand right landed repeatedly, notably in the fourth, where he hurt Davis twice, forcing desperate clinches. By the seventh, Davis rallied, landing a crisp uppercut and straight lefts, his best round, but Albright’s 50-20 power punch advantage through seven rounds kept him ahead. “I fought like I was behind,” Albright said, per DAZN, aware of the hometown judging risk. The Norfolk crowd, a mix of local loyalists and boxing purists, oscillated between cheers for Davis’s late surge and respect for Albright’s tenacity. The 10th round saw Albright’s jab back Davis to the ropes, sealing his case, though a 95-95 scorecard sparked debate.

The fight’s stakes were personal and professional, with Davis seeking to restore family honour after Albright’s competitive showing against Keyshawn. The vacant Silver US WBC title offered a stepping stone, but Albright’s victory disrupted Davis’s path toward the higher echelons of the division.
