Michel Rivera scores eighth round stoppage of Anthony Mercado-Raices

Miami based Dominican Michel Rivera looked totally dominant in his scheduled eight-round welterweight bout against Puerto Rico's Anthony Mercado-Raices.

The Rivera vs Mercado-Raices bout acted as the show opener for the Premier Boxing Champions, Anthony Dirrell v Kyrone Davis WBC World Super-middleweight Title eliminator show at the Shrine Exposition Center in Los Angeles, California.

The 22-year-old Rivera who normally fights in the 135lb Lightweight division made easy work of his opponent, dropping him in the 2nd and 6th rounds, and again in the 8th, prompting referee Edward Collantes to jump in and stop the contest at 2:26 of the round.
