Fight Report

Jesus Ramos made amends for his lone career loss when he stopped former IBF World Super Welterweight boss Jeison Rosario in the same arena where he lost to Erickson Lubin. This bout, contested at the middleweight limit of 160 pounds to accommodate Rosario, saw Ramos dominate from the outset. The 23-year-old southpaw from Casa Grande, Arizona, utilized his superior quickness and slick footwork to outmanoeuvre his opponent. Ramos's strategy focused on relentless bodywork, which has historically been a weakness for Rosario.

Ramos took the initiative early, showcasing his impressive skills by landing a combination and an uppercut in the third round that impressed the crowd. His aggressive approach continued throughout the fight, with a notable left hook in the fourth that sent spittle flying from Rosario's mouth. By the fifth round, Ramos had significantly outlanded Rosario, with CompuBox statistics showing a 135-37 advantage in punches landed. This relentless pressure set the stage for the pivotal moments of the fight.

In the seventh round, Ramos's precision and power were on full display as he dropped Rosario with a vicious two-punch combination. Although Rosario managed to rise and finish the round, the writing was on the wall.

The eighth round saw Ramos continue his onslaught, forcing referee Robert Hoyle to stop the fight at 2:18 after a punishing right hook left Rosario reeling. Despite Rosario's protests, the stoppage was justified, given the cumulative damage he had sustained throughout the bout. Ramos's victory marked a significant rebound from his loss to Lubin in September 2023. Since then, he has demonstrated resilience, first with a knockout of Johan Gonzalez in May 2024 and now with this decisive win over Rosario.
