Fight Report
Andres Cortes delivered a masterful performance against Bryan Chevalier in a showcase of power. Despite Chevalier enjoying the support of the New York crowd, Cortes's superior technique and speed proved to be the difference-maker in the ring.
From the outset, Cortes demonstrated his dominance, utilising his straighter, faster punches to control the fight's pace. Chevalier's taller frame worked against him as Cortes effectively muscled him around the ring, imposing his will with precision and aggression.
By the end of the second round, Chevalier's corner was already contemplating stopping the fight, recognising the mounting challenge posed by Cortes. In the ensuing rounds, Cortes continued to assert his dominance, gradually breaking down his opponent's defences.
A pivotal moment came late in the third round when a thunderous left hand from Cortes rocked Chevalier against the ropes. Although Chevalier's upper body momentarily slipped through the ropes, the referee ruled it as a non-knockdown. However, it was evident that Cortes had inflicted significant damage.
As the fourth round commenced, ringside physicians assessed Chevalier's condition and deemed him fit to continue. However, Cortes wasted no time capitalising on his momentum, unleashing a devastating right hand that further compromised Chevalier's ability to continue.
With Chevalier unable to mount a meaningful defence, his corner made the difficult decision to throw in the towel at 2:17 of the fourth round, conceding defeat to Cortes.
