Reasoning

No one will be able to accuse Dalton Smith of taking the easy route. In Alberto Puello, he takes on not only a former two-time world champion but also a southpaw who likes to set traps and has the current WBA 140lb champion, Gary Antuanne Russell, on his resume, as well as Sandor Martin. Smith has said in interviews that he really likes facing southpaws and that he and his team had previously studied Puello as a potential opponent in the past. This, coupled with the fact that Puello had already lost to the man Smith stopped to win the title, Subrial Matias, and that Smith is at home in front of his Sheffield faithful, is a good indicator that Smith will likely retain his crown. It’s quite possible that Smith, who is a very hard puncher with single shots, could get to the Dominican before the final bell, but for me, the more likely scenario is that we’ll see Smith retain his title on a wide points decision.
