Planet Ice

Planet Ice Altrincham, known initially as the Altrincham Ice Dome, opened its doors in 2007, replacing the former Altrincham Ice Rink that had closed in 2003. This modern facility, located in Altrincham, Greater Manchester, boasts a seating capacity of 2,140, with an additional provision for up to 300 standing spectators. The venue features a standard-sized ice pad measuring 57 meters by 26 meters, encircled by plexiglass and wooden barriers, aligning with international ice hockey regulations.

While primarily serving as the home arena for ice hockey teams such as the Manchester Storm and Altrincham Aces, Planet Ice Altrincham has diversified its event offerings to include boxing. A notable event in its boxing history was the Ultimate Boxxer IV tournament, held on July 19, 2019. This cruiserweight competition featured eight fighters, with Mikael Lawal emerging victorious after defeating Damian Chambers in the final.

The venue continues to be a hub for boxing events. On March 28, 2025, it is scheduled to host the 'Next Gen' event, organized by Matchroom Boxing, featuring a bout between British Olympian Pat Brown and Czech fighter Vladimir Reznicek. This event underscores the arena's versatility and growing prominence in the boxing community.

Beyond its sporting events, Planet Ice Altrincham offers a range of amenities, including public skating sessions, skating lessons, and various food options. Its strategic location next to the train station enhances accessibility, making it a convenient destination for both participants and spectators.
