Oxigeno Human Playground

Oxigeno Human Playground in Heredia, Costa Rica, is a relatively new addition to boxing venues. Still, it quickly became a name in Central American boxing. Opened in late 2018, this multi-purpose complex is part of a more extensive shopping and entertainment centre to blend retail, leisure, and sports activities under one roof.

While not exclusively a boxing venue, Oxigeno Human Playground has hosted several notable fight nights since its inception. The arena's flexible space can accommodate various crowd sizes, with a maximum capacity of around 2,500 spectators for boxing events. While Oxigeno is a newcomer to the boxing world, the city of Heredia and Costa Rica has a rich history. The country has produced several world-class fighters, including former world champion Hanna Gabriel and Olympic bronze medalist Noe Valladares. Costa Rica's most famous boxing match occurred in San José in 1989 when local hero Humberto "Chiquita" González fought Michael Carbajal for the IBF light flyweight title. However, this predates the construction of the Oxigeno Human Playground.

Oxigeno Human Playground continues to establish itself as a premier boxing venue in Costa Rica, carrying the torch for a nation with a proud pugilistic tradition.
