About Frost Bank Center Boxing Venue

Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, Texas, opened on October 18, 2002. It is owned by Bexar County and managed by Spurs Sports & Entertainment. The venue was initially called the SBC Center under a 20-year naming rights deal with SBC Communications. When SBC merged into AT&T, the arena was renamed AT&T Center in 2006, and in September 2023 it took its current name, Frost Bank Center, following a new naming rights agreement with Frost Bank.

The arena is a multi-purpose facility with a seating capacity of over 18,000 for basketball and slightly less for concerts and other events. It is the home of the NBA’s San Antonio Spurs and also serves as the annual site of the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo. In addition to basketball and rodeo, the venue has hosted a wide variety of concerts, professional wrestling events, and mixed martial arts events, including UFC events.

Professional boxing has also been featured at the arena. Notable cards include the undisputed super welterweight title fight between Jermell Charlo and Brian Castaño in July 2021, which ended in a split draw, and the December 2021 contest where Gilberto Ramírez defeated Yunieski González. World champion Marlen Esparza has also boxed there in defence of her titles. The arena has a record of staging major professional contests.
