Eco-Power Stadium

The Eco-Power Stadium, formerly known as the Keepmoat Stadium, is a prominent multi-purpose venue located in Doncaster, England. Inaugurated in 2007, it boasts a seating capacity of 15,231, serving as the home ground for Doncaster Rovers Football Club, Doncaster Rugby League Club, and Doncaster Rovers Belles Ladies Football Club. Constructed at an approximate cost of £20 million, the stadium is part of the larger Lakeside Sports Complex, which totaled around £32 million.

While primarily recognized for football and rugby, the Eco-Power Stadium has also embraced the sport of boxing. A notable event took place on May 11, 2013, when local boxer Jamie McDonnell clinched the IBF bantamweight title by defeating Julio Ceja.  This victory not only elevated McDonnell's career but also underscored the stadium's versatility as a boxing venue.?

Looking ahead, the stadium is set to host a significant boxing event on May 23, 2025. The card features Doncaster's own Terri Harper defending her WBO title against Germany's Natalie Zimmermann. Additionally, local lightweight contender Maxi Hughes is scheduled to face Archie Sharp, promising an electrifying night for boxing enthusiasts.

Doncaster's rich boxing heritage is further highlighted by its contribution to the sport. The town has produced notable fighters such as Bruce Woodcock, who held the British and Empire heavyweight titles from 1945 to 1950, and William 'Iron' Hague, the British heavyweight champion between 1909 and 1911.  More recently, boxers like Jamie McDonnell and Terri Harper have continued this legacy, achieving world championship status and bringing pride to the region.?

In addition to boxing, the Eco-Power Stadium has diversified its event portfolio by hosting concerts and other sporting events. Artists such as Ronan Keating, Bryan Adams, and McFly have graced its stage, attracting large audiences and showcasing the venue's adaptability. Furthermore, the stadium has been selected to host rugby league semi-finals, including the Betfred Challenge Cup, reflecting its standing in the sporting community.
