Fight Report

Tyrone McKenna emerged victorious in a chaotic two-round war against Dylan Moran, bringing the SETU Arena crowd in Waterford to its feet with a dramatic finish. The bout, televised on ProBox TV, saw McKenna triumph via TKO at 2:55 of the second round, cementing his status as a veteran contender in the super lightweight division.

The fight started with Moran charging out aggressively, spurred on by the vocal home crowd. The Waterford southpaw connected early with right hooks that tested McKenna's defences. Unfazed, McKenna responded with long left hands, using his reach advantage to punish Moran and open a cut on his left eyebrow. The exchanges were relentless, and midway through the first round, McKenna capitalized on Moran's willingness to trade in close. A precise straight left from McKenna sent Moran sprawling to the canvas.

Moran beat the count, looking groggy but determined to continue. The bell sounded as McKenna moved in for the finish, allowing Moran to stumble back to his corner, visibly shaken from the knockdown.

The second round picked up where the first left off, with Moran rallying before his supporters. He landed some solid shots and appeared to gain momentum as McKenna slowed momentarily. However, ever the seasoned operator, McKenna maintained his composure and landed another series of clean lefts that kept Moran in trouble. Moran's output dwindled as the round progressed, and McKenna exploited his opponent's defensive lapses.
With just seconds remaining in the second round, McKenna landed another thudding left hand that sent Moran to the canvas for the second time.

Moran reached his feet again, but referee David Irving decided he had seen enough, waving off the contest to prevent further damage.
The crowd, buzzing from the non-stop action, was awed by the brutal exchanges. McKenna improved to 24-5-1 (7 KOs) and positioned himself for another high-profile fight. Having previously shared the ring with names like Regis Prograis and Jack Catterall, the Belfast fighter has shown he remains a threat in the division.

For Moran, now 19-4 (9 KOs), the loss highlighted his warrior spirit and defensive vulnerabilities. Despite the defeat, he earned the respect of those in attendance for his determination and willingness to trade punches with a more experienced opponent.

Earlier in the evening, Graham McCormack stopped Craig McCarthy in the sixth round of their grudge match. McCormack, scoring three knockdowns throughout the bout, ended matters with a devastating left to the body, securing revenge over his local rival.

The win moved McCormack to 10-4-1 (2 KOs), while McCarthy dropped to 10-3-1 (2 KOs) in a fight that further showcased the night's theme of fierce local rivalries and thrilling finishes.
