Maxim Prodan gets win over Nicola Cristofori in controversial ending

Milan based Romanian Maxim Prodan was outboxed for long periods in his IBF International Welterweight Title defence against Nicola Cristofori but finally found success in the 5th round when he floored his Italian challenger with a left hook to the head. That was the champion's only real success in the fight as Christofori got back on his bike and never gave Prodan anything to hit for the rest of the fight.

In the 10th and final round, Christofori must have felt that all he needed to do was hear the final bell ring to claim victory but when he slipped on a wet patch on the canvas after a hook from Prodan, he backed to the ropes and covered up as the champion unloaded hooks that he appeared to block, however, the referee jumped in and stopped the fight at 2:55 of the round. 

Prodan moves to 20-0.
