Fight Report

In a showdown between unbeaten featherweight Masood Abdulah and 2016 Olympian Qais Ashfaq, Abdulah emerged victorious, showcasing his heavy-handed skills and dominating his opponent from start to finish.

Abdulah, with a record of 10-0, 7 knockouts, had been seeking a quality opponent to provide him with a challenge, and Ashfaq, with a record of 12-3, 5 knockouts, seemed to fit the bill. However, Ashfaq, coming off losses to Marc Leach and Liam Dillon, was overwhelmed by Abdulah's relentless aggression and power.

Abdulah pressed the action from the opening bell, while Ashfaq utilised his southpaw skills to box from the outside. Despite Ashfaq's attempts to control the pace, Abdulah's physicality and strength proved too much to handle. In the second round, Abdulah earned a warning for pushing Ashfaq over, demonstrating his dominance in the ring.

However, Ashfaq showed resilience and landed a perfectly timed right hook in the third round, momentarily stunning Abdulah. Despite this setback, Abdulah continued to press forward, eventually flooring Ashfaq multiple times in a tumultuous round.

In the fourth round, Abdulah appeared to score a knockdown, but it went unawarded. Nevertheless, he continued to overwhelm Ashfaq with his relentless assault, culminating in a series of knockdowns in the fifth round.

With Abdulah delivering clean, arcing right hands, Ashfaq's corner threw in the towel, prompting the referee to wave off the fight at 2 minutes and 2 seconds of the fifth round. Abdulah retained his Commonwealth silver featherweight title in impressive fashion, solidifying his status as a rising star in the division.
