Karim Guerfi scores shock decision win to take EBU belt from Andoni Gago

Frenchman Karim Guerfi came back from a 1st round knockout loss to Edinburgh bantamweight Lee McGregor with a shock split decision win over Andoni Gago at the Plaza de Toros de Puerto Banus in Marbella, Spain.

The fact that both the McGregor and Gago bouts were for European titles, two weight divisions apart is all the more remarkable.

The 34-year-old Guerfi may need to go back to Spain for a rematch but as good as this fight was, the fans would not be sorry to see a replay.
