Emanuel Navarrete stops Christopher Diaz in final round

Two weight world champion Emanuel Navarrete scored a 12th round stoppage of Puerto Rico's Christopher Diaz in the first defense of the WBO world featherweight title he won last time out against Ruben Villa in a vacant title match.  

Diaz comes out with dignity as he gave a great account of himself against a champion who must be seen as a threat to anyone at featherweight. It's a shame that Shukur Stevenson didn't stay at 126lbs a little longer because Navarrete would have been a real threat to him.

Diaz managed to rise after knockdowns in the 4th, twice in the 8th, and the final 12th round knockdown that lead Diaz’s head trainer Nelson Rodriguez to ask for the fight to be stoped.
