Dan Azeez wins split decision but never subdues Ricky Summers

Lewisham, South London's Dan Azeez won a deserved 10 round split decision over Wombourne in Staffordshire's Ricky Summers to retain his English light-heavyweight title at the Bolton Whites Hotel on MTK Global's show headlined by Danny Dignum vs Andrey Sirotkin.

Azeez had the faster feet and hands and that was the real difference throughout. Summers used his height and reach to his full advantage at times and that was when he won rounds, but, Ricky sometimes gets involved when it's not to his best advantage.

Oddly enough, Summers best moment came in the 9th round when the pace slowed and he landed a big right hand that shook the defending champion. Azeez did well to come back right away from the shot but the round went to Summers.

Azeez showed enough skill and grit to win the final round and perhaps rubber stamp the win but Summers proved that he is a tough fight for anyone in the division.
