Anthony Yarde drops Alex Theran twice for first round knockout

Former WBO world light-heavyweight title challenger Anthony Yarde came back from his points loss to Lyndon Arthur with a 1st round knockout of Colombian visitor Alex Theran on the undercard of Queensberry Promotions headline bout, Akeem Ennis-Brown vs Sam Maxwell at Arena Birmingham, shown live on BT Sports.

The body shots, both left hooks, that dropped the 30-year-old Massachusetts based Colombian, were landed with pinpoint precision. We know what Yarde is capable of against lower-level opponents and this was little more than a workout to shake off the rust accumulated in the eight months since his loss to Arthur.

Arthur vs Yarde is pencilled in for October and poses some serious questions of the challenger.
