Abdullah Mason Continues Knockout Streak with Fourth Round Stoppage of Ronal Ron

Rising lightweight prospect Abdullah Mason (13-0, 11 KOs) extended his impressive knockout streak on Saturday night, stopping Venezuela's Ronal Ron (14-6, 11 KOs) at 2:00 of the fourth round in an eight-round bout.

The 20-year-old Mason, fighting in an eight-rounder for only the second time in his career, wasted no time asserting his dominance. As Ron charged in to throw a left hook in the opening round, Mason countered with a straight left that sent his opponent crashing to the canvas.

Mason's hand speed was fully displayed in the second round as he unleashed rapid combinations on the inside and connected with left uppercuts. Although Ron, 26, managed to land a couple of right hands in the third round, Mason remained unfazed. The Cleveland, Ohio native responded by dropping Ron again with a powerful left to the chest.

Mason turned up the heat in the fourth round, overwhelming Ron with a relentless onslaught of power punches from both hands. Referee Lawrence Cole had seen enough and stepped in to halt the contest, giving Mason his eighth knockout victory in his last nine fights.

After the stoppage, ESPN broadcaster Tim Bradley was impressed with Mason's performance, stating, "This kid is special. He is going to be a problem in the 135-pound weight class."
