Born on September 10, 1997, in Bayamon, Puerto Rico, Yankiel Rivera Figueroa has rapidly established himself as one of the most promising flyweights to emerge from the island in recent years. Nicknamed “El Doctorcito,” Rivera came up through the distinguished Puerto Rican amateur system, making his mark early on the international stage. His ascent was no accident; Rivera demonstrated exceptional skill and resilience during his teenage years, notably claiming a bronze medal at the Pan American Youth Championships in Quito in 2014.
