Thomas Hearns vs Michael Olajide was Hearn's second defence of his WBO World Super-middleweight Title and took place on April 28th, 1990 at the Taj Majal Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City. The fight was promoted by Top Rank and was refereed by Tony Orlando.
Going into the fight, Hearns was the clear favourite with a record of 46-3-1, compared to Olajide's 27-3-0. Hearns weighed in at 168lbs while Olajide weighed in at 166½lbs.
Hearns served as the aggressor for the entire duration of the bout. He dropped Olajide with a right cross in the ninth round and went on to dominate the rest of the fight. Despite the knockdown, Olajide was able to withstand Hearns' flurry of punches in the final rounds.
The judges' scorecards reflected Hearns' dominant performance, with Hearns winning by large margins on all three. Samuel Conde Lopez scored the fight 120-107, Vincent Rainone scored it 119-107, and Cesar Ramos scored it 119-110. The unanimous decision victory marked Hearns' second successful defence of the WBO World Super-middleweight Title.
