Jim Watt vs Charlie Nash

On Friday 14th March 1980, the Kelvin Hall in Glasgow, Scotland, hosted the  WBC World Lightweight Title fight between Jim Watt and Charlie Nash. The fight was promoted by Mike Barrett and Mickey Duff and aired on the BBC. This was Watt's second defense of his title, having won it in June 1979 against Alfredo Pitalua.

Both fighters weighed in at 134¾ lbs. The referee for the fight was Sid Nathan, a well-respected official with many high-profile fights under his belt.

The opening rounds of the fight were a tense affair, with both fighters looking to establish their dominance. Nash came out strongly, using his speed and agility to try and catch Watt off guard. However, Watt showed his experience, using his superior reach and power to keep Nash at bay.

In the fourth round, the fight took a decisive turn when Watt landed a powerful left hook that sent Nash to the canvas. Nash managed to get back to his feet, but Watt seized the opportunity and unleashed a flurry of punches that forced the referee to step in and stop the fight. The official time of the stoppage was 2 minutes and 57 seconds of the fourth round.
