Reasoning

There is not a lot to dislike about Lester Martinez. If he wins a world title, he will be the first from his country, Guatemala, to do so. Trained by Bomac and with the added bonus of spending rounds with the great Terence Crawford, it’s hard to see him not fulfilling his promise. His Titanic battle with Christian Mbilli in his last outing just showed exactly where he stands in the super middleweight division. Having said all that, the banana skin comes in the form of Immanuwel Aleem, a veteran who’s seen it all before and knows a thing or two about ring craft. After back-to-back losses to Ronald Ellis and Amilcar Vidal Jr, Aleem has reeled off four fights, which include three wins and one technical draw, so he’s in decent form. However, I cannot see him pulling off the upset against this opponent at such a crucial point in Martinez’s quest for world honours. So I’m going for a Martinez win, but I do believe Aleem can see it through to the final bell.
